The Investigation was a made-for-TV docu-drama, filmed in 2002, but not screened until late in 2003, because of the similarites between events in the movie and a current trial happening in Vancouver.
Nick plays the part of Les Forsythe, who was a member of the RCMP at the time of the events portrayed, and who was actively involved in the search for proof that Clifford Olson was a serial killer.
The story is based on a book about the events of the time, written by the real Les Forsythe, who collaborated closely with the producers of the film.
There was an outcry in the press when the film was finally screened. Families of the victims protested, although the film itself certainly does not sensationalize or seek to cover up the events that occurred.
